How many services do I have and how many are turned on

To see how many services you have on your Linux server, run the following command from a bash shell

  1. chkconfig --list | wc -l

I get the number 136 back

If you want to see how many of those 136 services are turned on, you can use the following snippet from a bash shell

  1. chkconfig --list | grep on | wc -l

In my case I get back 51 services that are turned on
